Under this team, Access One has grown organically and expanded its market coverage. Our executive members have a diverse background, broad range of special skills, and 150 years of combined experience.

Mark Jozwiak, President and Founder

Jozwiak Mark

Mark started his career in telecommunications in 1982 as an inside sales representative with TDX Systems and held several executive sales positions with GTE/Sprint, Metropolitan Fiber Systems and Bell Atlantic. In 2009, both Mark and CEO Brian Barkley were inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. Mark holds a Bachelor's of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Political Science and was awarded an Honors Certificate in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Southern California in 1982.

Brian Barkley

Brian began his technology career in 1990, and worked as a sales representative for Allnet Communications and Metromedia Communications Corporation. In 2006, he joined the Board of Directors for Chicagoland and Northern Illinois Better Business Bureau. Both Brian and President Mark Jozwiak were inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2009. Brian holds a Bachelor's of Science from Iowa State University.



John Hoehne, Chief Operating Officer

After serving two years in Access One's finance department, John Hoehne was named Director of Finance in 2011 and promoted to Vice President of Finance in 2012. He has ten years of experience in telecommunications, including previous positions at Allegiance Telecom, Teoco Corporation, and Deloitte Consulting. John holds a B.S. in Finance from DePaul University and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.



Rick Wagner, Vice President of Customer Operations & Engineering

Rick Wagner

Rick Wagner, Vice President of Customer Operations & Engineering, joined the Access One Executive Team with over 17 years of telecom and Internet service provider experience. Previously, Rick served as the Director of Engineering Operations for Comcast/CIMCO Communications. Rick was also the Director of Data and Systems at Cincinnati Bell Telephone, where he worked for 12 plus years. Rick holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.



Joel Miller, Senior General Counsel

Joel has served as Access One's corporate counsel since the company's inception. He has over 30 years of wide-ranging experience in corporate, business and commercial matters. Joel teaches Business Law at Carthage College as an adjunct professor. Joel received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, and he graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.



Darren Burgener, Vice President of Finance

Darren Burgener, Vice President of Finance, oversees the company’s finance and accounting functions.   Prior to joining Access One, Darren headed corporate development, FP&A and investor relations for Inteliquent.  Previously, Darren spent 10 years in investment banking at Lehman Brothers and Jefferies where he advised on more than $10 billion of M&A and financing transactions in the telecommunications sector.   Darren received his MBA from the University of Chicago following undergraduate studies at the University of Manitoba and Keio University in Japan.



Ryan O’Halloran, Vice President of Managed Services

Ryan O’Halloran, Vice President of Managed Services, joined the Access One Executive Team with 10 years of experience in Managed IT and Cloud Services. Previously, Ryan served as the Principal Cloud and Managed Services Architect for Tympani, Inc. (a premier Cisco Partner in Chicagoland) as well as the Director of Technology at Framework Communications (Managed Services Provider). Ryan holds numerous industry certifications in Networking, Data Center, Cloud, and Business Consulting.



Nicki Watson, Vice President of Customer Engagement

Nicki Watson

Nicki Watson was named Vice President, Customer Engagement after serving in various Account Management and client facing roles throughout her 12 years at Access One.  She is responsible for overseeing internal customer care and sales teams that serve the existing customer base on a daily basis.  Nicki has 13 years of telecom and management experience.  She holds a BA in Marketing and Management from Loras College in Dubuque. 



Jennifer Weller, Vice President of Customer Installations

Jennifer Weller

After serving in various roles at Access One for eleven years, Jennifer Weller was named Vice President, Customer Installations in 2017. Jennifer has 21 years of experience in telecommunications, beginning her career in the paging industry and moving into cellular service and eventually land line service. She has held previous positions at Sprint, XO, and Focal/Broadwing Communications.



Derrick Havis, Vice President of Sales

Derrick Havis

Derrick Havis is Access One’s Vice President of Sales. He has a wealth of knowledge relating to all business technology products and solutions after spending the last 20 years in different capacities of the industry. He leads the company’s strategic objectives, working cross-functionally throughout the organization to increase sales, expand the product portfolio, and enhance overall internal communication to ensure that Access One is partnering with its clients for mutual success. In his previous role as an Executive at Call One, Havis was responsible for the rapid growth the company achieved over the last decade. Prior to joining Call One, he was the Director of Sales at Sound, Inc., and he also started a telecom business as a distributor for Ameritech.
