IP Network Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Engineer position is responsible for the Design and Maintenance of Access One’s Core and Edge Network infrastructure. Additionally, the Network Engineer acts as Tier2/3 support for all IP related products and solutions including support for technologies including but not limited to SD-WAN, UCaaS, SIP trunking, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS and Managed Firewalls.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide technical expertise, support and training to Service Management, Service Delivery and Network Services departments as it relates to customer test and turn-ups, troubles, and order issues

-Engineer and maintain Access One core and edge network infrastructure including all Carrier connectivity and physical assets in Data centers

-Testing, documenting and training on new product and feature offerings related to Network services

-Responsible for Software/firmware standards on all Core, Edge and CPE devices (including testing, and rollout of global updates)

-Assist in the development and expansion of Access One’s IP and VoIP network architecture

-Support Engineering studies to determine requirements, long-range engineering plans and design of the IP Network

-Schedule and perform network after-hours maintenance when required

-Provide after-hour escalation support for Service Assurance and Service Delivery

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP route/switch certifications
  • Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP certifications

Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert Knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching and routing (Juniper and/or Cisco)
  • Telecommunications Service provider/Carrier engineering experience with Juniper, Cisco or equivalent equipment
  • Service provider MPLS, Metro Ethernet experience
  • Extensive experience with routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and VPN routing
  • Concepts, configuration and troubleshooting of Firewalls
  • Experience with Network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SolarWinds and Adtran N-command
  • UCaaS/HPBX experience with platforms such as Metaswitch and Broadsoft
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of SBC’s such as Metaswitch Perimeta, Acme Packet, or Sonus
  • Hands on experience with deployment and troubleshooting of SIP services including analysis of packet captures and SIP ladder call flows
  • Experience with SD-WAN deployment and support

Working Conditions: 
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
