Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

General Summary:

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and integrity of client information systems, including privately hosted and cloud computing environments, as well as providing technical assistance to team members with system and network requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation, and support for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.
  • Design, implementation, and support for virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
  • Design, implementation, and support at the network level: LAN/WAN connectivity, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless
  • Design, implementation, and support of backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Design, implementation, and support for Remote access solutions: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
  • Communicate with all parties in a constructive manner to guarantee client expectations are met 
  • Maintain awareness of all outstanding client pre- and post-delivery issues and provide status to clients as necessary
  • Drive problem investigations and resolution as required
  • Develop and maintain client related documentation
  • Manage the process of implementing change efficiently and effectively

  • Identify areas for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Ensure consistency of existing systems through creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions
  • Business awareness: specific knowledge of the client and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals
  • Involvement in the design and building of new services
  • Act as a mentor for those with less experience
  • Review IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry

  • Desired Professional IT Certifications and/or IT Acumen:
    • VMware Professional Certified VCP-DCV and VCP-CMA advanced knowledge
    • Microsoft Office 365 MCSA
    • Cisco CCNP
    • Microsoft Exchange advanced experience
    • Microsoft Windows advanced experience
    • ISP/Circuit/MPLS intermediate knowledge
    • Cisco Small Business certified – Switching/Routing/VPN intermediate knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Labtech RMM /ConnectWise PSA experience strongly desired
  • Knowledge of IT applications, processes, software, and equipment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Skill in strategic IT planning
  • Skill in planning and preparing written communications
  • Interpersonal skills: such as communication skills, active listening, and customer-care
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
  • Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services
